Trivia
- "Ipecac" is a shortened name for syrup of ipecac, a powerful emetic (a substance used to induce vomiting). This name is itself derived from a shortening of the source plant's name, Ipecacuanha. Production of ipecac syrup has been discontinued since 2010.
- If Isaac's damage is above 100, Ipecac's explosions will shake the screen. This is just a visual effect.
- 166 damage is required for screen shake.
- A big enough tear size (~827 damage with no other tear size modifiers) will cause the explosion sound to change to the one used by Mama Mega!.
- This item is used in Suicide King (challenge #7).
- In the Wrath of the Lamb DLC for the original game, this item was unlocked by default.
- Ipecac's addition to the game was inspired by Edmund having to drink it when he was three, due to overeating a handful of vitamin gummies. Mom's Heart Unlocks The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth
