Rooms
Rooms (23 rooms)
Room types, special rooms, doors, and major spawn rules.

Angel Room
Angel Rooms are the divine equivalent of the Devil Room. They feature an angel and 0-4 free items. Taking one of these items causes all other free items to disappear. (Tainted Keeper still needs to pay for these items, and buying any of them causes all of the others to disappear. Some of these items cost 30 pennies to buy.)

Arcade
Arcades are special rooms that can only spawn on an even-numbered floor (Basement II, Caves II, Depths II, Womb II) if you have 5 coins or more when you leave the previous floor. Arcades require one coin to be opened. They can be replaced with a Vault if Isaac is carrying two keys or more.

Bedroom
The Bedroom is a special room located behind a double plank door, requiring two bombs to open. Bedrooms can be either clean or dirty; each version has a different map icon and color scheme. It usually contains a bed and/or a carpet in the center (see gallery image 1). Isaac can sleep in the bed once to recover all Red Hearts. Bombing the carpet in the middle of the room will reveal a trap door, leading to either a Crawl Space in Clean Bedrooms, or the next floor in Dirty Bedrooms. Bedrooms are more likely to appear if Isaac has low health.

Black Market
Black Markets are unique shops that can be accessed through a Crawl Space. Black Markets are 2 rooms wide. The left side of the Black Market contains a door back to the crawlspace and a trapdoor or beam of light to the next floor (including the Dark Room or Chest, even if they haven't been unlocked yet). The center of the room contains several items from the Shop pool that can all be bought for 1 Red Heart container. nr Although these will not be Devil Room items, they still count as Devil deals for Angel Room generation and unlocking Azazel. r This is no longer the case, and Isaac can buy items from the Black Market without affecting the spawn chances of Angel rooms. The rest of the room will be strewn about with shopkeepers, pickups, and various s and machines.

Boss Room
Boss Rooms contain one of the many bosses, with victory granting Isaac an item from the Boss pool, hearts (depending on difficulty), and a trap door leading to the next level.

Boss Rush
The Boss Rush is an optional room that becomes available by beating Mom in Depths, Necropolis, or Dank Depths within 20 minutes, or beating her in Mausoleum or Gehenna within 25 minutes.

Challenge Room
Challenge Rooms are special rooms that allow Isaac to fight enemies for extra rewards. They will only spawn on a floor if, upon entering the floor, Isaac's total health is greater than or equal to his number of heart containers. There are two kinds of challenge rooms: Normal Challenge Rooms, which appear on the first floor of a chapter or on floors, and Boss Challenge Rooms, which appear on the second floor of a chapter. Challenge rooms do not appear in chapter 6.
Closets
Closets are rare, small, dead-end rooms added in The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth. Closets often contain a unique arrangement of objects, pickups, items, or enemies, but are otherwise identical in appearance to normal rooms. Each chapter has several closet layouts, some differing between stages themselves. Some closets are considerably more rare than others, but also often contain more powerful loot or enemies.

Grave Rooms are rooms added in Afterbirth+'s Booster Pack #5 which only appear in the Dark Room. Grave Rooms are part of The Forgotten's unlock quest.

I AM ERROR
The I AM ERROR room is a rare room that isn't connected to any other room on the floor and is reached through glitches or as a failsafe for an impossible event (like using Blank Card on , which loops on itself infinitely without a failsafe).

Library
The following room maps were made using Basement Renovator for cleaner viewing. Items generated in these rooms pull from the Library item pool.

Mini-Boss Room
The Mini-Boss Room is a Special Room in which Isaac battles against one of a number of mini-bosses, namely the Seven Deadly Sins, their Super variants, and Ultra Pride. The Super Sins cannot be encountered in Basement or its variants; they only appear in Mini-Boss Rooms starting from Caves and beyond. If a Red Room created by Red Key (etc.) is a Mini-Boss Room, all Sins and their variants, as well as Krampus, can be found within, even in the Basement.

Planetarium
The Planetarium is an unlockable room type added in The Binding of Isaac: Repentance. Planetariums are similar to Treasure Rooms, in that they both require keys to enter, but always contain special astronomy-themed items that are only available through Planetariums. Their chance for appearing increases with each Treasure Room skipped. They are unlocked by acquiring three different astrology-related items in a single run.

Treasure Room
